Before you start

A few simple steps will help you take accurate measurements for the best fit.

Wear your usual breeches

Wear the breeches or riding trousers you normally ride in.

Stand straight and look ahead

Stand comfortably on a flat surface without changing your posture.

Ask for help

Ask someone else to take the measurements for a more accurate result.

Use a soft tape

Use a flexible soft tape measure and keep it comfortably snug.

Record carefully

Write down every measurement clearly as you go.

Your measurements

Take each measurement carefully over a bare leg or thin socks. Stand straight and look ahead while your measurements are being taken.

Foot length

Measure from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe.

Foot width

Measure across the widest part of your foot while standing naturally.

Instep circumference

Measure around the highest point of your instep and under your foot.

Ankle circumference

Measure around the ankle at the point shown in the illustration.

Lower calf

Measure around the leg at the lower calf position shown.

Calf circumference

Measure around the fullest part of your calf, keeping the tape level.

Knee circumference

Measure around the leg at the point shown in the illustration.

Thigh circumference

Measure around the leg at the requested height without pulling the tape tight.

Front height

Measure vertically from the floor beside your heel to the point shown.

Back height

Measure vertically from the floor at the back of your heel to the point shown.

Shaft height

Measure vertically from the floor to the required top point.
